    Hole – 6.26.10 – Norfolk, VA

Almost a month later, I finally got around to posting my pictures and videos from Hole (or, as I would say, Courtney Love and her lame studio musicians) at the Norva.

It was a great show! My 5th time seeing Courtney Love live (make that 2 Hole shows, and 3 Courtney Love & The Chelsea shows). She was totally sober and coherent, and talked to the crowd without too much name dropping – which she is so infamous for.

The night started by getting to the Venue at 6:30 pm, and waiting for my VIP laminate. In the process, I met some really awesome Hole fans. This one girl had waited 12 years to see Courtney, and was a total obsessive fan like myself. That was refreshing. And 2 sweet guys who I discover live right next door to me! Once we got into the venue, we ended up taking over the entire front row.

After the show, we waited outside the venue near a back door, which a crowd of 10 of us were sure Courtney would make an exit from. We wait there almost an hour, and somehow figure out she is actually going to come out the front of the venue — where about 50+ fans are already waiting. We literally run around the street block as fast as we can to make it to the front, praying that we don’t miss our chance to meet her! We ended up getting a spot right next to the door of the tour bus.

Sure enough, Courtney comes out and makes her way down the line, signing autographs for dozens of fans. When she got near us, I promptly stuck out my Sharpie marker and poster – which she signed! It looks like a scribble, but none the less, it was signed and in person! Then we started to ask her to take a photo with us. Which we got and I am so happy to have a photo of me with her! Dream come true!

And what made me laugh is right after she finished with the photos, she said “Where’s the door?!” to the Tour Bus, as she was literally staring right at it. Oh Corky, what a kook!

    CKY

I went to the CKY show August 11th at the Norva (Norfolk, VA). It was an OK show compared to when I saw them in Atlanta a couple of years ago. The Atlanta show was stronger, edgier, and the set list more diverse. This time, I think because of the small venue, small crowd, the fact that it’s Norfolk, they didn’t play as well. What irked me was the fact that their set list was mostly all the stuff from their first 2 albums. All the stuff the kiddies know. I wanted to hear more songs from “An Answer can be Found” and their new album. I was disappointed by this. I felt like they were selling out.

The highlight of the show: someone threw a Michael Jackson t-shirt up onto the stage, so the band broke out with a rockin’ version of “Beat It”.

The band who played before CKY was a Swedish band called Graveyard. They were definitely talented with their melodic strings… very reminiscent of Led Zepplin. I was definitely grooving out to this band.
